Good Morning! I have been craving french toast for over a week. Just pure sweet amazing french toast. Classic the way you remember it.
Remember Saturday mornings when you were a kid? Waking up earlier than your parents and watching cartoons all day, all the while knowing as soon as your mom wakes up she is going to make a big breakfast of pancakes or waffles, or your absolute favorite…. French Toast!
Everyone loves french toast! You can jazz it all up with fruit, cinnamon, frosting all sorts of things. I love just good old classic french toast made with sourdough bread! Not white sandwich bread, not texas toast bread, Sourdough!
As I said I have been craving french toast for a while. We didn’t have any bread in the house! Can you imagine not having bread…. I mean it’s bread, how did you not have bread in the house?

Being sick for 2 weeks certainly had something to do with it. When I finally headed out to the store Bread was on the top of my list! I went straight to the bakery to get a nice crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside loaf of bread. Nothing holds up to the egg and milk mixture like sourdough. It has that classic tangy taste that goes so well with the sweetness of the syrup.
It’s such a great way to start the day. A hot cup of coffee and a plate full of egg-soaked, sweet, brown bread. I love a big scoop of whipped butter just slowly melting away to cover the plate of bread. For me to truly be classic french toast it has to be whipped butter!
The crowning glory to french toast is of course the syrup! Warm sweet amber liquid dripping and oozing and making everything sticky and oh so yummy! If you have been craving french toast I say just go ahead and indulge!
