Yes, I know that I am not supposed to use that name. This Super Bowl is not that Super Bowl. This is Super Bowl Chili Recipe and it is inspired by my Grandfather’s crazy chili concoction that he made every MARCH when he would go on a yearly fishing trip to Canada.
My Grandpa was a really neat guy! He was always tinkering, fixing, creating, and he was an expert woodworker. He would take all of us grandkids to feed the ducks out on frozen ponds and we would just have the time of our lives!
One crazy thing he would do is make this crazy concoction that he called Super Bowl Chili Recipe. It was AWFUL!!! We would all groan with dismay when he made it. He used Baked Beans!! There were these huge chunks of celery that some were mush and some were so crunchy that you couldn’t hear anything while you chewed it up. We finally convinced him to only make it for his buddy’s on his fishing trips.

Both my Grandpa and Grandma have been gone now for many years. Yet somehow they are still able to influence me even today. I wanted to make this chili for you all today but with some tweaks in the ingredients so that you won’t hate me!
There are no Baked Beans in here and the celery is cut all uniform and small so it will all cook the same way. What is in here is just some really great and filling chili flavors. I have chili beans and ground beef, onions, and celery, and tons of chili powder to give you that big boost of flavor! I topped it with Jalapeno’s because we would have jalapeno eating contests when I was little. Not so much anymore but I had to add this touch to his special dish.
So whether you make this for that Other Super Bowl or not I really do hope that you make this. It would make my Grandpa’s Day!
