I made a spicy Mustard Sauce go with them. Use 3 Tbsp of Yellow Mustard and 1 Tbsp of Sriracha Sauce and stir together. Spicy and Tangy! A perfect accompaniment to this snack.

The trick that gives these pretzel bites their classic flavor is a quick dip in boiling water with baking soda. It’s an essential step that you can’t leave out if you want an authentic soft pretzel taste. When I say that these are super easy, I mean it! The dough comes together super easy and is a no-fuss low-maintenance yeast dough.
I like to use Red Star quick-rise yeast that comes in a jar. I use 1 tbsp for this recipe. I think that Red Star is a superior ingredient, and I never have any issues with it rising.
To top off these beauties is a tasty sprinkle of coarse Kosher Salt. You can use Sea Salt if you like also. That bit of salt amps up the pretzel flavor. Well, that is salt’s job, after all. These are the perfect Football Party Food also!! Beer, Pretzels, and Football. Sounds like a perfect Autumn Day!
Super Easy Pretzel Bites Recipe
This recipe has been adapted from a Better Homes and Garden Recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 Tbsp Red Star quick rising yeast
- 4 1/2 cups All Purpose flour
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- Pot of boiling water with 2/3 cup baking soda
- 1 egg yolk beaten with 1 Tbsp water
- Kosher or Sea Salt for topping
Instructions
- Combine the warm water, and the sugar, in the bottom of a mixing bowl. Sprinkle the yeast on top, and let sit for five (5) minutes, or until the yeast gets foamy
- Attach a hook to your electric mixer
- Add the melted butter, salt, and flour to the bowl
- Start off slow, and then build to medium, for about 4-5 minutes [The dough will pull away from the bowl, and create a ball]
- Cover with cling film [Saran Wrap] and store in a warm place for about 50 minutes to let rise
- After the dough has risen put the water and baking soda in a pot to boil
- Preheat oven to 450
- Line your baking sheets with a Silpat or parchment paper
- Take dough out and knead by hand 3 or 4 times
- On a lightly floured surface roll out into a rectangle approx 1/2 inch thick
- Using a pizza cutter cut long strips about 1 1/2 inch wide
- Then cut them again in 2 inch pieces
- With a slotted spoon place the pieces in the boiling water for about 30 seconds a batch until all pieces are boiled
- Place pieces on the prepared baking sheets and brush with the egg yolk and 1 tbs water
- Sprinkle on the salt
- Bake for 13-15 min
